The first day I arrived all the staff welcomed me with open arms, everyone was polite and respectful. Thank you all for providing a safe environment for me to focus on my recovery!

What is the recommended stay in treatment?

Commitment by the family and your loved one is essential in the recovery process. Bright Mission Recovery will provide an individual plan tailored specifically to their needs, including co-occurring treatment. Bright Mission Recovery recommends a comprehensive 30-day residential treatment program because increased length of care has proven to provide better outcomes, such as continued abstinence, decreased potential for relapse, and continued employment. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, participation for less than 90 days in residential or outpatient care is of limited effectiveness, and treatment lasting significantly longer is recommended for maintaining positive outcomes.

What happens if my loved one wants to leave before 30 days? How do I remain supportive?

Recovery is a difficult process and takes a tremendous amount of courage. However, this is a disease and certain expected symptoms of the disease may persist while in treatment. Your loved one may call you at some point requesting or demanding that you take them home. This is an indicator that the symptoms of the disease are present. There are many factors that may lead to this increase in behaviors, such as change in physiology, the brain’s response to withdrawal or internal triggers to name a few. While this is an emotional time for you and your loved one, their need to remain in treatment is critical. Reassure your loved one that you love them, remain firm on your boundaries, and stay close with the treatment team for strategies and support.

What is the Transition Period?

This may also be referred to as the “black out period”. When an individual enters treatment, it can be a very vulnerable time. To give your loved one the opportunity to settle in and focus on themselves & their treatment, we have implemented a 5-day blackout period where your loved one has limited interactions with outside contacts, including family. This allows your loved one to focus on their treatment, socialize with others, and achieve confidence in their sober lives. In some cases, and when therapeutically appropriate, we will assist your loved one in making “Safety Calls” to Check in with their loved ones or employer.

What is an ROI?

Your loved one will need to sign a release of information adding you, in order for us to communicate or release any information regarding their treatment. If they have not signed a release for you, you will hear us state “I cannot confirm nor deny whether they are in our program”. It is important you encourage your loved one to sign an ROI adding you so that we can update you on their treatment.

Visitation Expectations?

We know that visiting your loved one is an important part of the recovery process. Patient safety continues to be our primary concern at Bright Mission Recovery. Visits are only on Sundays at for family and friends with the approval from the case manager.

Am I allowed to use my cellphone or other electronics while in treatment?

Please be aware to travel with your cell phone but will not be allowed use during your stay at Bright Mission Recovery. All cellphones and electronics will be locked in your personal locker. If you would like to use your cell phone or electronics to check bills and other important matters, you will need to arrange it with your case manager or counselor.
